We are in the process of reducing our database size which is currently at 42.3GB, we have performed the following:

1 - Clear history
2 - Remove inactive records
3 - remove posted and deleted batches

Is there anything else that can be purged from Sage or at the database level to reduce the size?

Also, After performs Sage Purging would you recommend SQL data shrink to see the actual database size reduced?

Additional info :

We are currently using Sage v6 upgrading to 2017
By law, we are required to keep 7 years of data

Agree with Jay.

What's the motivation for reducing the size?

Yes 42gb is pretty small comparing to other data we've worked with in the past

The main reason for purging most of the data is unwanted data entries entered in correctly , since we are upgrading we are using the opportunity to start fresh

After upgrading the whole data processing will change and the database will grow rapidly so having 42gb of data and only 20gb useful we choose to purge.

So any suggestion?

Clear history, delete inactive records, then shrink the database.
