Sage 300 Crystal Report Export function takes hours to run 1

Hi Guys,

I have a very strange problem with exporting Sage 300 Crystal Report to Excel file or Text file. The report is GL transaction list report from Sage 300. It takes less than a minute to launch the print preview screen for total page of 50 pages. On workstation, it takes several hours to export the report from the preview screen to an Excel or Text file using the Export button on Crystal Report. On server, there is no such problem, it takes only a couple minutes to export.

Sage 300 version is v2014.

What can be configured on workstation level to identify to try to fix?

My best advice is to not export from Crystal, there are much faster options to extract data.
Try Data, From Other Sources, From SQL Server in Excel - it is about a million times faster. You want to query GLPOST.

I use MS SQL Server for tons of reports. You can intelligently tune the SQL rather than trying to coerce Crystal into doing things efficiently. I can't tell you how many multi hour reports we rewrote into sub one-second reports.
