Hi Guys,

I have a client that has exchange 2000 and a few of the mailboxes are getting large, lets say around 2.5 - 3gb, what is a safe size for exchange mailboxes and would it be better to archive files off to pst, and backup the pst file as well.

Any help much appreciated,

danvant,

mailbox size is very subjective but those are huge. we try and encourage our users to archive items older than 1 month, move pics, spreadsheets, powerpoints, ect off the mail server and to a network file server. as for limits, we use 50,000k as the base limit, 60, then 70 before no send / receive... needless to say, we still need to contact some users every month or so and ask them to clean it up...
