SA Release on Transfer?

I have a magix system which I just switched over 24/7 AA. I have 2 SA buttons on every set. Every set also has every line appearance on it. When the callers zero out to the receptionist in the AA, the call is coming in on the SA button. This makes sense to me. But what doesn't make sense is why the system doesn't release the SA button when the caller answers the phone. My thinking was that since the the line appearance was on the phone, the system would release the SA button when the call was answered. This is becoming a problem because they have a high volume of calls, and they use the "place the caller on hold, intercom the requested party, and tell them they have a call on line XX" method of handling calls, and the receptionist is running out of SA buttons to intercom others to tell them they have calls holding. I know I can put more SA buttons on the set, but they would loose other buttons that are used alot. Any suggestions?

You need to retrain your users. That is the way that PBXes are supposed to operate.

You can add SA-O buttons to the receptionist, these are System Access Originate (Out Only) that won't fill up with incoming calls, but always be available for an intercom or other outgoing call.

Instead of just hitting hold, users can look at their display first, and see which line they are using. Put a pickup button on each extension, and they can tell the other user to "Pickup Line 8XX" to retreive the call. They could also "Pickup XXX" where XXX is the extension number that put the call on hold, but if there is more than one call holding or another call ringing, they won't get the line they want.

Your Operator can use Park Codes to park calls, and users would then use Pickup and the Park Code to retreive the call. Individual users can "Transfer" calls to their OWN extension number, and others can then "Pickup" that extension number, and not accidently get other calls ringing in.

The best solution is to get users to transfer calls to each other, and remove the line appearances altogether.

TTT's last sentence is THE BEST WAY TO DO IT !

The users need to TRANSFER the call.

The lines should be REMOVED FROM THEIR SETS to make that happen.

Like I said....

The lines should be REMOVED FROM THEIR SETS to make that happen.

That'll make it work, or?????
