Very strange!

This is happening on both a new and multiple refurb S8730 servers.

Trying to load CM5.1.2.416.4 SW off ISO clean image (have successfully used the CD on previous servers)

server boots and loads the CM5.1.2 ISO and gets to the menu and we select the load option ... it starts the normal install steps - and the first step is to create the swap file I believe ...and it causes a screen message to come up showing "Install Failed".

Have tried loading with different CM 5.1.2 ISO image CDs ... different S8730s ... strange thing is every S8730 loads CM 5.2.1.016.4 easily - no complaints ... but not CM5.1.2 ??

Anyone else run into this?

Maybe 10 years ago :)

why not just use 5.2.1? I don't think there's a license consideration

It for a dupe replacement - has to be exact CM SW and patches.

Can you load the CD on an s8300C?
Does the CD have an ISO image on it, or did you burn the CD with the ISO image?

Look at the CD in a windows computer and describe the file system or file names and folders on the CD.

We had no issue loading an S8300C in our lab with any of the (3) CDs that have the CM5.1.2.416.4 ISO image.

That is what is baffling us.

We select the DL365 G2 server type which is the S8730 and it tries to start - but gives a LOAD FAIL ... error screen.

Even on a brand new S8730 - sealed box .... same issue??

dl385g2 = S8730

craft@server1> grep ServerType /etc/opt/ecs/ecs.conf
ServerType dl385g2

What are the other choices on the install menu?

We are loading this on an S8730.

The other possible option is the dl365g1 which is the S8720 I believe.

dl380g3 = S8710
dl385g1 = S8720
dl385g2 = S8730

dl365g1 is not valid
dl365g2 is not valid

Sorry - it has been a long day

Only options for server types in the dl family are the DL385G1 & G2

My bad!

Ended up being one of the (2) dual NIC cards was defective and caused this very strange installation issue.

Thanks to all who replied.
