We are trying to configure SNMP traps to be sent to Solar Winds for s8700 server and CM events. I see the forms on the server for setting parameters- however- when we configured it to send info to Solar Winds, it somehow disabled the Avaya alarm reporting- nothing is being sent to Denver... Any docs or info on how to set this up on the server? Thanks.

You can find various Alarm settings in the linux shell. Here is a link to some of the commands including required syntax.
Also keep in mind that you will not get the CM information/traps automatically. Usually it requires a proxy agent that can/will convert OSSI to SNMP.
Solarwinds may do that I am not familiar enough with it to say. However I know Alarmtraks and Avaya Integrated management will.
