Is anyone using FTP for their S8700 backups in addition to CF flashcards ?

jordy,

yes, we are doing this via FTP on our LAN. Work nice and we are backing up translations, system and security files.

Can someone elaborate on what is needed to get this working...in detail? I've read the .pdf files from avaya and when I schedule a backup, it fails. I believe I have everything configured correctly.

Method FTP
User Name anonymous
Password
Host Name 0.0.0.0 (not really 0's)
Directory \\0.0.0.0\ftp\

Port 21 is checked on the 8720 as well.

Thanks,

Trey

You need to make sure that you have the appropriate setting in the Firewall Module in the Maintenance Web Interface:

Input to Server Output from Server Service Port/Protocol
Checked Checked ftp 21/tcp

depending on if you are backing up to the S8720 or not. If you are backing up to the Avaya server, your username is anonymous and the password is a valid email address.

Hope this helps.

I don't think the IP address should be in the Directory field. It should just be a valid directory on your ftp server.

I want to backup to a server out on our network. That way I can restore from the network if need be.

Also, I have port 21 checked on the 8720 so that should be all set.

Currently I'm running FTP services on my laptop adn trying to backup the files to it.

It's not working, yet others can get to my FTP folder when they use ftp:\mppcname\ftp

I have been using it for a couple of years now. Works great! I am using IIS FTP

Here is what the settings should look like
Username: (user name setup in FTP software)
Password: (password setup in FTP software)
Hostname: (IP address of FTP server)
Directory: (path only, don't include the IP)
Example here is mine
Active/DFWB/inbound/dallas8710/servera

Thanks CBB, I'll give it a shot on Monday.

Happy Thanksgiving!
