Hi-

Still a newbie to Avaya administration.
Our new ISP asked us if our PBX was loop or jump start?

I'm not sure they have the definitions correct.
Can anyone elaborate?

Thx much for any help.

I have heard of loop or ground start referring to trunks, but never loop or jump start, thats a new one

Thanks - I wasn't sure about jump start either - I think they have it wrong.
Anyone else know what they might mean?

To my knowledge the following are the types of signaling used for analog trunks:

loop start
ground start
wink start (used on analog DID trunks)
CAMA-E911

Never heard of jump start.

If they have a set of jumper cables when they come to install your trunks, don't let them anywhere near your equipment. Should be loop or ground start. Ground start would be preferred most of the time unless you were going to connect the trunks directly to equipment like fax machines, etc...
