S7A won't boot:error 4B00F011

I would like to ask how can i access the service mode of the S7A machine...because when we press 5 and F5 it bypass it and comes out with this LED code...we check the LED code it says that there is no boot image....how can we recreate the boot image? and how can we access the service mode or SMS menu???/ Need your Help ASAP.....thanks in advance...

if the system can not access the boot image, you will probably have to boot off of CD and go into maintenance mode. I'm not certain about the SMS.

To access the service mode on the S70/S7A servers, you need to boot the server and press the space bar on the console keypboard when you hear three beeps in a row. I'm not sure what LED code will be displayed but do remember about the beeps. You need to press the space bar before the three beeps end.

How did the system get in this condition in the first place. What happened.
You did not mention what kind of console do you have. Is it a graphics or ASCII, or you have mouse, keyboard and video switch connected.

To get in service mode boot- you have to have AIX 433 CD in CD rom drive, power on the system on graphics console when you see icon in upper lower left hand press F6
and on ASCII console press 6 when you see keyboard, mouse show up.

What key you press depends on Graphics or ASCII console.
to get in SMS menu on Graphics console press F1 on ASCII console press 1.
If you have a Graphics console then whey see keyboard, mouse icon you press the above key or on ASCII you will see words keyboard, mouse then you press above key.


If you have KVM switch then you have to disconnect the KVM switch and connect the console direct to get into SMS.

Only newer P series machine has supported KVM OUTLOOK APEX switch that will get you in to SMS.

How to create Bootimage.

If you make into SMS and start a shell before mounting file system.

lslv -m hd5 -> if you get back hdisk0 and if it is mirrored then you will have hdisk0 and hdisk1.

bosboot -ad /dev/hdisk0 or if there is mirror of hdisk0 to hdisk1 pick one of the two disk as boot device.
after this command is run shutdown and boot system in normal mode.
