Image appeared on TV, I proceeded to toggle my laptop monitor off, and operate through the tv, and the image from the tv disappeared, I then toggled further, it did not reappear. Laptop still operates fine. Plugged a monitor into the RGB socket, the toggle worked fine. Any pointers to help would be appreciated. Tried 2 cables , s-video to s-video, and s-video to RCA, same results, TV registers the cable as being connected.

If it worked the first time it doesn't really sound like a cabling problem. I would be checking the display properties, some of the video cards have an option to toggle the S-Video output on and off. I know on at least one of the laptops I have here that it is impossible to disable the panel display and still have the S-Video enabled, it's designed to supplement the internal display, not replace it.

I agree with AdmanOK. The toggle is usually just for the monitor, not the S-Video out.

I use my Dell like this and I have noticed that when I have a movie in, it goes full screen automatically on the TV, but stays as the default setting on the S-video.

I actually just had this issue with my Dell laptop. Worked last week, doesn't now.

To fix it (it has an ATI chip in it) right click the desktop, choose properties, go to the settings tab, then click the Advanced button. Now click on the Display tab (if it is ATI) and click on the TV.

Worked for me, hope it works for you.
