My sata disks is bootable both as single drive .
And in RAID-0 configuration .
(On nForce2 Ultra board)
It depends on your mobo and sata controller .
Some have had problems booting with parallel IDE drives
in the same comp .
I did to btw , if the PATA had NTLDR on it ,
The parallel ATA booted before SATA even if it was not
in the bios boot order and boot other devices was none.
Solution was to delete the boot files from the PATA .

SATA is just as much bootable as IDE. The only conflicts you might find would be setting the right boot order in the BIOS. Take a look at SYAR's link for more info.
