I'm trying to load a new IOS image onto a remote 1720. Unfortunately there's no room on the flash so I want to reboot the router using the mini IOS on the rom. Setting the config reg to 0x2101 doesn't do it. Not had much experience of the 1720 - does any one know if it can be done?

I'm not sure if you can do this remotely if you have to reboot the router because there's not enough memory, the Problem is once you reboot the router in tiny Rom you loose your connection so there's no way you can do anything unless you are physically connected to the router.

Yes you can update your IOS on your 1720 remotely, and it is quite easy.
If your router is up and working with an incorrect IOS image and you are logged on to it remotely all you have to do is delete the unwanted IOS image out of the Flash (this will not effect the operating status of your router and you will still have a connection) then TFTP your new IOS image into the flash, reload your router and BOBS your uncle.
