I've been working on getting SBS2008/Exchange2007 up for a long time. I thought I was getting really close but at present there is no email flow and Remote Web Workplace, under Shared Folders & Websites\Web Sites has a message "Cannot retrieve the requested information". This might be because I changed the FQDN name from "remote.domain.com" to "mail.domain.com" to make my ssl cert work, that I purchased from Godaddy. That is downloaded and working I believe although I only found a wizard to install one of the two files. I've run fix my network and that is not bringing back any errors. Still no email flow though, and I'm concerned about RWW and OWA is also "offline". Can anyone suggest a way for me to get rww back up? I hope I'm giving enough information.

Thanks,

Scott

I guess it's hard to give advice when so many things are going wrong. This happens when someone like myself doesn't really know what action to take. Muddling along with help from one of the MVP's who took pity on me, I've come much closer to getting sbs2008 to work, but certainly not there yet. Email seems to be working partially in that it's coming in but not going out. Another issue, which drives the question I hope someone will try to answer, is that I'm screwed up my web. config file and wonder if there is a way to reset it?

Thanks,

Scott

First don't make changes uless you understand the full impact of it. I would recommend ISBN-13: 978-0-672-32957-9 (SBS unleashed). I am working through it slowly and all working fine so far. Have you run the two "Best practice" programs to discover critical problems?

Are you POP3 or SMTP for i/c? What happens if you send an email from a user outside? Does it get a failure response?

PS only put one problem in one post.

I've also found that experts will tend not to keep replying, fair enough as I found I was leaning too heavily on them getting that book solved a lot of problems.

Thanks for your time.

PS I know that Goddady uses a two stage process and I think it is stated on their website. I'm using the built in cert. for the moment and its working fine on RWW and remote admin access from my W7 laptop..

Thanks for your time.

Yes, I hear you, and you're right. I'm a little stressed out trying to get this to work, and it isn't yet. Everyone on here has been really helpful. I will get there, though I think I need to walk away from it for a couple of days.

Later,

Scott

Mark was kind enough to send me another web.config file and I'm back up. Now configuring terminal services as hopefully the last leg in the rww set up
