I have an RV082 acting as a VPN "Server". One of the "clients" is a WRV54G wireless router. I have persistent IPs on both ends. I had a tunnel up, connected and stable. I upgraded the firmware on the RV082 and the Wrv54G and now I cannot get the tunnel back up for love or money. (and yes, I know, if the tunnel was working, why did I fix what wasn't broken by upgrading the firmware). Anyway, Linksys support is all buy useless so far.
Related question, the WRV54G is very unreliable on remote mgt when rebooted. Most of the time it has to be power cycled when any significant changes are made. Any Ideas?

OH, RV082 is at 1.1.5
WRV54G is at 2.25.2

I feel your pain with their support, you can easily spend hours going in circles with them. That firmware, is that the latest version on each? Double check your settings (I'm sure you already have), as firmware updates can wipe stuff out.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Yes I have the latest firmware on each router. I talked to support again today and the tech told me to go ahead and upgrade each router to the latest firmware. I told her I already had. She then took about 5 minutes to confirm that then told me to hard reset the WRV54G. Of course I am not local to either router. But that will be my next thing to try. I thought this was supposed to be easy with static IPs on each end. I may try to reflash the firmware regardless and just set the SRV5G up from scratch again...
Anyway, I'll post any progress.

Sorry to hear you'll have to go through all that. We all each learn the hard way not to update firmware unless there is a specific problem that it will solve for you...

Progress report... Talked to Linksys support for nearly 6 hours last night. Boils down to me getting an RMA number and Linksys x shipping me a new router.
Oh, has anyone heard of a conflict w/ this router and the Motorola Surfboard cable modem? Had one tech tell me I needed to change all of my addressing to 10.x.x.x because of a conflict w/ the 192.168.x.x addressing in the router and the addressing in the cable modem (BTW the cable modem has two actual public IPs--how could they conflict?--)
We will see how the new router plays out.

I cannot get the hard reset on my WRV54g to work at all. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have found this device to be very finicky and I have had to reset once already because of an inability to connect to it at all after settting it up.

Update:
Got the new RV082 from Linksys and hooked it up. Everything worked great. However, I had a consistent problem.. I set a tunnel up with no security just to see if it would connect, then started layering security after that. The move from DES to 3DES broke the VPN and I had to reboot the router. This happened a couple of times. I got around this by just setting up all the security from the get-go. So far it is working and stable.
On the WRV54G.. I have 2 of them and they are VERY finicky. To get one to reset I have to hold the reset button in for 30 Seconds, power it off while holding the reset button in..hold the reset button in for another 30 seconds then continue to hold the reset button in for another 30 xeconds while powering it up. Hope that helps.
