We currently have a business DSL line connected to our RV082 router and would like to add a business cable line as a secondary internet connection. Does anyone have any tips for setting this up? Is it as simple as connecting the cable modem via ethernet cable to the router? We would just like to have the extra bandwidth and redundancy when the DSL goes down.

Thanks for any tips,

Just plug it in. It's almost that simple. You'll need to set the router's dual wan to either 'load balance' or 'smart backup'. I think it's set to smart backup by default, but it could also be defaulted to DMZ, I can't remember.

Hi smah,

Does the 'load balance' option appear after plugging in a second internet connection?

Thanks a lot,

I would think it's there all the time, but I'm not sure. Look in System Management, Dual-Wan

Hi Smah,

Thanks for the help. I finally found the load balance setting.

Hi Smah,

Well we got the business cable installed so now we have it and the business dsl. The only problem we had was that some of our computers could not access certain websites. For example computer A can access but computer B cannot. Computer B can access other sites just fine.

After we deleted temporary internet files on computer B it was able to access all sites.
Do you know why this would occur? Even when 2 internet connections are being used isn't there still only 1 routing table on the router?

Thanks a lot,
