I have read all the FAQ's and re-registered my dll's, added the mdactyp_exe to the installation package and still I get this error. I have had no problems before with the Package and Deployment wizard but I now have three applications that only I can run. Any one have any other suggestions on how I may be able to solve this problem? I have also downloaded and ran the VB6Cli.exe that is suppose to allow for distribution. I am using VB 6 with service pack 5 on a Windows 98 OS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean that you are having this problem on another PC that you are installing it on? (i.e. not the PC you have developed the application on)

Exactly, when I go to install on another PC I get that error after a successful install of the program I made with the Deployment and Package wizard.

It sounds to me that you are missing a dependency for your application. Are you completely sure that you have included all of the dependencies in the installation?? There is a tool called 'Depends' in Visual Studio that shows you all of the dependencies of a DLL or EXE.
Alternatively, you could use the Visual Studio Installer that is available as a free download from Microsoft, this is a much better installation tool than the PDW.

Hehe I am not completely sure of anything anymore so no I may have missed a dependancy but I thought I covered the ones I knew to be a problem from other installations I have done.

My problem as well is I do not have all the development tools I probably need as the main focusof this company is not software dveloping. I am trying to update their software as I go. Because they do not have the complete Visual Studio suite I do not have the "Depends" option.

I will look for the VS Installer on their website adn see if I have better luck with it.

Thank you!!
