RunTime Error 3218 - "Couldn't Update, Currenty Locked"

We have an Access database application. which shared by approx. 8 users.

Part of the application deletes data from a table (less than 1000 records) and this has been fine for the last 6 months, but we are now getting the following error message:

RunTime Error 3218 - "Couldn't Update, Currenty Locked"

This happens even though all users but the one currently performing the delete procedure are logged out.

The LDB file is behaving (i.e. disappearing and re-appearing as normal), but the problem persists. Reparing the database and opening in exclusive mode do not seem to help.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Just wondering if you ever resolved this issue and if so whether you recall the resolution. I have run into a similar situation where an Access app was working and then "suddenly" starting producing this error message.

If you are absolutely sure no changes have been made to the database, then try compact and repair (ensure you have copy before you start)

If not, checkout the changes, they may have introduced the error
