Runtime error 2501 - default printer

Hi,

I get the runtime error 2501 (the openReport action was cancelled...) when I open any report.

I have isolated the problem to the printer. There is a network printer on port IP_1 (TCP IP Port) which is the default printer. When I change the default printer to one which uses LPT1 as the port everything works.

The problem is that the network printer must remain as the default printer.

When the report was designed, was the printer on LPT1 set as the default printer?

Its certainly worth checking what printer settings these reports are set to use. Open each one in design mode, go to File -> Page Setup.
Check the page margins is correct for the paper you are using, the paper size (on the Paper tab) is correct and the "Printer for Catalog" option is set to Use Default Printer rather than a specific one.

If you've changed anything in the settings above, save the report then try again.

I've checked all that but I think it goes deaper as the reports work when the LPT1 printer is set as default.

Does the printer work properly (ie can you print from other applications)?
I know that Access queries the printer driver settings for paper sizes, margin sizes etc at times. I'm just wondering if it is something to do with that.

Yeah the printer works fine for all other apps including office.
