I'm waiting for my maintainer to remove a LIM from my 10-LIM system (BC10, LIM has no active trunks/extns/groups and no common program units), but need to power it down sooner due to building work.

Is there any way I can still have an updateable system with one LIM powered down?

N.B. I only have a level 4 password.

You did not mentioned which LIM will be disconnected and I am assuming this LIM is a remote LIM(far from the group switch). If the construction will take a while, its worthwhile to put the LIM temporarily where the group switch is located and connect it right there. This means you can do some changes as normal and the system will function properly and you can dump as normal. Then when the construction is finish, you can move it back again. Or if you have a small wall mounted LIM or small magazine or any spare LIM that you can easily move to the group switch, do it.

Unless you are taking a lim out of your system permanently,
you should never end it. You'll save yourself much time and effort if you just power it down and move it your main site and reconnect it to the group switch. It's a litle bit of physical effort and a reload, and when you move it to it's new location, it's some more physical work and another reload, compared to all the software changes to remove all data from the lim, end it, system dump, go thru the entire add-a-lim process, system dump again, add dat back in, system etc.

You cannot dump a system with a lim out of order.

Good luck,

Thanks to patcher and Dave. I will follow your suggestions and move the LIM next to the group switch until I can get the maintainer to sort things out properly.
