bit long winded this one.

I saw on the net some where that you can get a product called winlite98? I think, it stated that you could practicly install windows98se on an embeded device with less than 9meg, this includes the Explorer gui, aparently.

What I would like to know, is this at all possible? I would like to strip windows down anyway. I have an old Toshiba Libretto 70CT, there not the most powerfull machine in the world. but it would be great if I could get somewhere in this project.

Could some one advise of any thing that I can rid of in windows to cut the size dramaticly?

this probably does not make a lot of sence if it doesnt, let me know Ill try harder?

The main hang up is a computer capable of booting from a ram drive. I have thought of running totally from a "Flash Card" or USB thumbdrive, but the boot up is still the problem. We used to play with copying entire programs to run from a ram drive, but it wasn't that much quicker than from the hard drive. The main problem with using a ram drive is that everytime you restart the computer, the ram drive contents disappear and you have to copy the program to it again.

Of course. I for got that.

As it happens I have decided to scrap that idea. I have started to rebuild the windows directory with out any of the unnesseary components. It's taking a long time, but I am progressing.

Does any one know if the windows Reg will recreate its self? bit of a loose ended question. what im worryed about is the regentrys. thats about the only thing that I cant really copy over.

Thanks for your help
