Hi All,

I am looking at buying a new laptop and I am extremely interested in buying an Apple G4 but as I am a programmer I am concerned that I won't be able to run VB.net on it - is this correct? Or will the MAC OS allow me to run the Visual Studio development languages?

Thanks

Virtual PC is a Windows Emulator for the Mac, sold by some company named Microsoft

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

I occasionally get my feet wet programming VB6, i was in the same situation as you, looking to buy a laptop -wanted a mac because they look stunning.

Advice:

If you will need to be programming a lot of VB (everyday or a few times a week) then i would say go with a PC laptop. I only occasionally program so i can bear the inconvinience. I say this because whilst you can have Virtual PC running, and it will do everything fine, it is a little slow -something which i cannot bear. Even warning messages take a second to display. Any other windows utilities you may run -you cannot.

Saying this, i am typing this on my gorgeous g4 powerbook. I love it. The transition to mac takes a while and you will not like it as much at first (at least i did not) but now i love it..

Good luck.

Thanks for the replys, I have eventually decided to go with a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop. I think I'll wait until next year and also buy an Apple.

Thanks for the advice.
