Hello,

I was hoping that someone might be able to help me out with this. If it is possible, could someone please explain how to set up to different data directories on a single machine?

What I currently have is a single Mandrake Server that is to be used for Development and QA. Each should have the same databases, but with their own data.

On the server, I run two separate domain names with Apache. One for 192.168.0.253 and one for 192.168.0.254. I can bind MySQL to the addresses, but all that does is allow users on both Web Sites to access the same data.

I have really looked around for a step by step example on how to do this, to no avail. If someone has the patience enough to explain this to me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Joseph

Why not just have two different identical databases in MySQL? I mean the only problem is then QA has to use a different databasename from Development, but that can be defined just once in an include file, then your system is transparent to the user.

Or is your development too complicated for that? It just seems to me like you're going to great lengths for little benefit.
