I have some accounting information grouped like:

ID Assessment DetID Paid
1 1000 1 100
1 1000 2 500
1 1000 3 200

2 500 4 250
2 500 5 250

I need: 1500 1300
I'm getting 4000 1300

I don't know if I am just too tired, but I am having a problem getting the summary totals of a grouping of ID's.

I am using 8.5.

Any help is appreciated.

One or both of us are tired ;)

You didn't state what you're grouping on?

This sounds precarious as you need something to identify uniqueness when grouping, but I'll assume that the id is the group, and for assessment you want only one of the values summed, whereas for paid you sum all values, as your example indicates.

Since you already have the 1300 part, I won't address that.

To get the sum of ONE of the assessment values per id create a 2 formula method, as in:

Group header formula:
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar mysum:=mysum+{table.assessment}

Since this is in the group header section, you'll only get the first value per id.

Then in the report footer you can use the following formula to display it:

whileprintingrecords;
numbervar mysum
