Hi

I have a set of a employee data that is grouped by month and I want to calculate the headcount each month.

I am finding this very difficult in Crystal for the following reasons:

1. To calculate the headcount I know can do a running total for each month group. This will work if I have no record selection on my data. If I want to filter my records though , I have a problem as to work out a running total for headcount I need to work with all the records.

2. The employee data contains people who have left.
It seems you cannot put a condition on a running total that is done on groups of data (in this case month)

Trying to calculate monthly headcounts is extremely confusing for me. [3eyes]

Any help at this stage is most appreciated!

Perhaps if you post some sample data and expected output, and what the condition is, it will help to clarify.

Also post what version of Crystal you're using.

So if you need all of the rows, you can't filter rows, but you can suppress those not of interest which gives the illusion of being filtered.

If the employee data shows people who have left, then you probably have a termination date you can key off of.

Presumably these you do want to filter, so add an appropriate record selection criteria.
