hi everyone,
I have a Problem
i am having a running total being Computed in the Summary of a report depending upon the details being populated in the report.
what happens is that when the evaluate condition
defined in the report does not match a single record
in the details band . the running total does not obviously calculate anything but value of this runnnig total is (null)
if displayed on the report nothing appears,
is there a way to give a default value to this Running total in such null cases .
A work around i have done is to add a formulae field and check for null condition. But if numerous running total being dispayed for every runningtotal there has to be formulae field defined which becomes a cumbersome job.
Could u ppl pls help me..

thanks
Nikhil

I don't know of a clean workaround for this.
Apparently, CR doesn't initialize the internal variable to the default of the data type.

That is why when I need a conditional total I often use a regular total of an if-then formula. Since you need 2 objects anyway, I find that combination cleaner. And you can do Grand and subtotals of the same formula. Ken Hamady, On-site/Phone Crystal Reports Training/Consulting
