How can I produce a running total or a Summary based on a formula field??

Provided that the formula does not: 1) include a summary operation such as Sum(), Average(), etc; 2) Use the previous() or next() functions; 3) is not evalauted WhilePrintingRecords; and 4) is not reffering to a subreport value, the answer is yes.

YOu might need a 'manual' running total field depending on the formula. Post the formula and we can tell you. If it has one of the features mentioned by dgilz, use the 3-Formula technique described in faq149-182 Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
