hi,

i have numerical data relating to the calandar day in the month. I need to display this data with calalandar date moving down the rows and two columns relating to the data for that day and a running month to date total, which will increase moving down the rows. this data will then be grouped.

i have a running total runinig alongside the data, summing the daily values and resetting upon change of group.

the problem i'm facing is if there is no data for that calandar day, the calandar daynumber will not appear, meaning my calandar day numbers do not run sequentially. how can i force it to display every calandar day number, thus ensuring there is a running total value next to each calandar day.

the calandar day is derived from a date stamp on the numerical value.

thanks, in advance.

You can not create data which does not exist.

The only way you can achieve what you want is to add a Calendar table and then left join your existing data from this new table. Then use the dates from this table to provide a list of days.

If you can't add a table, you'll be stuck with creating a 'Mock Crosstab'. Crosstabs are fine if you don't mind the absence of rows or columns with no data, but you said you wanted empty slots to show.

A 'Mock Crosstab' is something that looks like a Crosstab, but in fact you define each column yourself, normally as a running total. This would need to go in the report footer, because running totals count as the reports 'run' and they will not be complete until then. Crystal should have included an example along with the Crosstabs.

You can save a little time by doing a paste to a dummy report, changing the name and then pasting back.

Each running total will count the record if it was within the criteria - in your case, calendar day
