Have a product that requires SQL Server Agent to be running. Database was loaded on existing SQL Server 2008 Express server. Trying to start SQL Server Agent get
SQLServer Error 15247, User does not have permission to perform this action [SQLSTATE 42000] My question is - is it even possible to start SQL Server Agent service on SQL Server 2008 Express version?

sql server express does not come with SQL Server Agent. If you truly need the agent, you will need to purchase SQL server (probably standard edition). I would check with the vendor of the application to determine the minimum edition required.
