Hi

I really need some suggestions on this one. We are in the process of updating our Enterprise system from version 8 to version 9. We are currently in the testing phase. We had a number of reports in version 8 that are based on a Crystal Query that we had no problem running. However, I have tried to replicate these reports in version 9 but with no success. Enterprise 9 does not seem to recongnize the database settings for these reports and when I try running them I get the following error returned:

"The Table could not be found..."

Hence, I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has been able to succesfully implement reports into Crystal Enterprise 9 that are based on a Crystal Query? Do you have any suggestion on where I might be going wrong?

Thanks

We successfully migrated several query based reports from Crystal Enterprise 8.5 to Crystal Enterprise 9.0. However, I had to go into the Crystal Management Console, refresh the report and re-enter the database password. I also found that you have to develop the report with the same database user ID that you want to use when you publish the report to your Crystal Enterprise server...

Thanks

Can you possibly give me some details on how you managed to do this? i.e. Did you have to re-develop all the reports again? Also, did you have to put a copy of the .qry files on the Enterprise Server?

Thanks

Sure...

I took the original report file and opened it in CR 9.0. When it asked for a database user ID/password, I provided it with the one I wanted it to use when I published it CE. Then, I used the Save As... to go to the proper Enterprise Folder (option on the bottom left side of the Save As... screen - you will have to logon to your APS) and overwrote the report that was already out there (snapshots are not overwritten). Next, I went into CMC and entered the password again. The report worked fine after that!

Thanks again.

I have tried this, on several occasions infact. I have even created new reports but the problem is always the same. Enterprise does not recognize the Data source of the reports based on a Crystal Query, and therefore does not recognize the logon details supplied.

Do you have any idea on what I might be doing wrong?

In the CMC, although the Data Source(s) field has a blank entry, make sure you select Use Original Database Logon information. Also, since you are using a query, you are probably connecting to your database via ODBC. Make sure the ODBC entry exists on your CE server with the same name as on your machine...

Thanks very much, that problem seems to be sorted now!

Thanks again.

This is helpful so far, but I would like to know how you transferred the query from info to CE 9.0.

Could anyone please help.

Thank you in advance.
