I have several reports which I need to run when the office is closed. Some of these are weekley, some of these are monthly.

How do I go about doing this

Thanks [sig][/sig]

If you compile them, you can run them off of a delayed timer. Unfortunately the compile feature does not come with version 8, but you can download it. If you have V5-7 it is at the bottom of the report menu.

When you run a compiled report it asks you if you want to run it now or at a later time, allowing you to specify the time. [sig]<p>Ken Hamady- href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady</a><br>[/sig]

Do you know the name of the file and where I can get it from. [sig][/sig]

Just go into the Report Designer version 5 - 7 and select Report Compile and it will create a exe with the sample mname as the report. Run the exe, select your parameters and execution date and Time, and then Go home

Cheers

Sorry I meant where can I obtain the file that I need to run the report.

I am using version 8 [sig][/sig]

just stuck it on my pc and it says it has many limitations and I would be better off using another tool. Do these come with pro if not are they free [sig][/sig]

I should have warned you about that misleading warning message. There are some limitations but I don't think they will affect you.

Seagate recommends the Web component server, which is not a good replacement for the compiled report feature. It is much more complex, much slower, and requires that you configure an NT server to run the reports. They don't tell you any of that up front.

It also doesn't have a delayed timer, which is what you need.

The real warning is that if you ever upgrade to Seagate 9, which isn't even announced as vaporware yet, they MAY not support this feature anymore. They don't want to. They tried to drop it from Seagate 8 and we all screamed so they made it available via download.

I think I will turn this into a FAQ. [sig]<p>Ken Hamady- href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady</a><br>[/sig]

Thanks for your help Ken, by the way I got a load more questions coming up if thats ok. [sig][/sig]

Is there a setting where I can congure the report to run evey night? Not having to go in each day or does it automatically do this?
