running query from windows on AS400 data is slow 1

I am using a MyEureka Report Designer on win xp to run a report that querys data on our AS400. I have setup the client access odbc for this. I have a report that takes about 35min to run. About 15 pages worth of records. How can I improve this perforance. It really slows my system taking that long to run the query.

Could you give us more info? i.e.
How many files are joined?
How many records in each file?
Are the databases indexed (any logicals to use rather than physicals)?

I would personally lean toward using Query/400 if an odbc connected client takes that long. You could always query 1 file with the select criteria, then save it as a new file. Join that with the others.

We use Cognos Impromptu Report Writer, but when it comes to charge files with millions of records, you gotta go RPG or Query400.
