What would the implications of running the Oracle 7x client software against a Oracle 8x server. For starters, is it possible ? And can I use OO4O (2.3) in a VB app to access the 8x database ?

Is it possible? - yes. Can I use OO4O? - Not sure, but don't know why not. Give it a try and find out.

The answer is definitly yes, but you can not utilize some new O8 features.

I have multiple servers running either 7.3.4 or 8.1.6. When I go to just run some queries against either version, I use the Oracle 7.3.4 version of the SQL*Worksheet, just because I like it better. So, I agree with both Karluk and Sem (Gods in my mind), you can use 7 to get to 8, but you might lose some of the functionality particular to 8. Terry M. Hoey
