I've tried to run NAV in safe mode on XP, and it tells me that it won't run in Safe Mode. But all over the net I find people recommending that you run it in safe mode. So what is the trick? Running it off the CD is not useful, as the CD doesn't have the latest virus definitions. Is there a rev of NAV that will run in Safe Mode?

Thanks

Joel

I never run any programs in desktop mode of safe mode anymore, I always boot to safe mode with command prompt. I find some virii and trojans load in safe mode. There's some you have to boot to the console to remove...

If you suspect a virus, boot to safe mode with command prompt. Press ctrl-alt-del to bring up task manager. Use file, new task... to run programs. Load regedt32 and scroll to:
HKLMHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec Click on symantec, click security then permissions. Make sure the users and admin have access and mostly system have full access...

try to load symantec again...
