I have looked into this further and it appears my application, when running on a 64 bit Windows operating system, would run on a 32-bit layer of the Windows operating system known as Windows on Windows (WOW) and should work (except mention of some rare instances of a problem)
you are right, it should run fine. 64-bit machines can still run 32-bit apps. Much like how 32-bit machines can run 16-bit apps (in sort of a emulator built into windows automatically). But 64-bit machines no longer can run 16-bit apps! But luckily you don't have to worry about that. A test will give you a final result. Best of luck.
I have been running a VB6(SP6) server app with a MSAccess database on a 64 Windows XP on a Core Duo Processor with no errors 24/7 for over a year.
The dual cores of the machine seem to share the workload automatically.
