I am a newbie so please excuse if this offends. I've run through a tuturial setting up a simple project. I then set up a new environment and added my Logical Host and then set up the profile. When I try to run the bootstrap, I get this error ...

"The Logical Host [otherEnv/LogicalHost] is already bootstrapped in this location. Please download and extract the Logical Host zip file to a different location and bo
otstrap the new Logical Host from there."

I read that you are suppose to be able to run multiple logical hosts on the same environment by setting the base port to a new value. Where did I go astray?

Thanks,

Could you explain the logical host? I've never heard that terminology before. Are you talking about the participating host...or registry host?

If you read the eGate User Guide, it mentions Logical Host all over the place. Basically, a Logical Host contains the eGate components that will be instantiated on a piece of hardware. In other words, it is the locical grouping of the software that will be deployed to an particular environment. From the user guide ...

"A Logical Host contains the eGate run-time components that are installed on a host hardware platform. A Logical Host can be a member of only one Environment, but each Environment can contain multiple Logical Hosts. Both integration servers and message servers are deployed to the Logical Host ..."

Well then...
I've been running eGate since 3.6, I guess it's time I read the user manual! :)
Sounds like a distributed architecture. I think I skipped that part.
Anyway, I have several test environments, if you describe the host OS and the OS your registry resides on, and what you're trying to accomplish, maybe I could try it out for you and get back.

For example...
Registry lives on an RS/6000 (pSeries) with AIX.
Participating on Windows connects to the reg host on AIX for X12 transfers to a materials management application.
Another part host lives on linux connected to the same reg host which imports HL7 data into a MySQL db to be shown from a webserver.

I'm going to go back and read the some of the user guide again, but if you have more explicit details, I'm sure someone here can help.

Later,
Mark

Also, check out the system_admin_guide section 2.3 for ditributed registry replication. If that's where you're headed.

I believe the original post refers to ICAN version.

I believe you can multiple logical host, but if I remember correctly, u have to install two logical host directories, then change the configuration file to run on different ports.
