Hi all,

We just upgraded a box from RS6000 7026-H50 to 7026-H70, in a couple of weeks that change will go to 7026-H80. Since the hardware upgrade from H50 to H70 the program "monitor-2.1.5" now core dumps when it's run. I recompiled the program from source code downloaded from the "Public Domain Software Library for AIX at UCLA" which is recommended by IBM. It still core dumps, anyone know why? Is there another program like monitor that I could use?

I upgraded the O.S. from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3 on the 11th and the hardware from H50 to H70 on the 19th. Monitor worked fine after the OS change, but core dumps after the hardware change.

hi
There is no doubt about the fact that any programmes running on one o/s
level may not run on another o/s level but hardware upgrades should not affect
programmes behaviour.
If dump is occuring with segmentation fault OR segmentation exception errors check
ur physical memory size difference in two diff. hardwares.
Why should'nt you go to make just an analysis of core dump using Crash
command. This may help u to diagnose the root cause of the problem.

In 4.3.x there is a better monitoring tool.. It comes with 4.3. It's called topas. Just run "topas" from the command line. Or run "topas ? " and you'll get all options and what they do..
