I have recently installed IIS on my home machine ( Windows XP SP3) and built a simple web site to allow family members to browse 'photos etc stored on an external hard drive from their own devices via WLAN.
What I have found is that when IIS is running and I try to browse the internet from the same machine I get a constant stream of requests to:
"Enter username and password for in Firefox.
or
"Connecting to in IE8.
Stopping the World Wide Web Publishing service makes the issue go away.
Any ideas what is causing the problem and how to fix it?
