Running HTML/Javascript from notepad

Hi,
What I want to be able to do is reference a txt file in my HTML and allow the HTML to read the contents of the file.. The contents would be the coding for a dropdown menu so I only had to update it in one place

IS this possible?

any advice would be great

The best way to do this is to use Server Side Includes. More info about SSI at faq253-3309 and faq253-2000 .
