Running headers on Master pages

I have master pages with running headers for different articles in a journal. Since many of the pages have footnote frames, I have to turn off the "Master page override" function to make adjustments. But then, when I try to globally change the header by adjusting the Master page, it doesn't take except for new pages. The old, tampered with pages, ignore these changes. There must be a workaround...

Sorry, but you're too wuick for me. I don't think I understand what you mean. Click on WHAT bits and WHERE.

Doing what you were doing (Override all Master Page Items) makes everything on that page, which was a master page element, such as folios, running heads, footnote boxes etc, become active, so you can select it and move it around etc......not what you want to do

If you need to select your footnote box then simply hold down command+shift and click on the box.

That will make it active for you to do what you want to it, without making everything else active, so it will let change the runningheads on the master page.
