Can anyone offer some assistance on running groupwise 4.1a on a windows xp pro machine. Groupwise runs fine if a user has administrator priveliges. Whenever a limited user logs on and tries to use groupwise the wpset.bif file gives an error. It says that the .bif file could not be opened. it may be in use by another process. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A blast from the past, GW 4.x - wow! The user that needs to run GW 4.1 has to have a minimum of (R)ead and (W)rite rights to the WPCSET.bif file. And possibly (C)reate rights. It has been to long time since I administered a 4.x system and I am not 100% sure as to what all rights are needed. Is the .bif file in question located on the server or on the local machine?

FarOut,

You were correct in the need to modify permissions in the "system folder", to the wpset.bif file. I ended up giving full access to each user and Groupwise functions as it should. Boy will I be glad hen we upgrade to Netware 6.5 and Groupwise 6.5, it's a royal pain getting some of this old software to work properly.

Thanks for your reply.
