It appears that they are structured into agencies. All the agencies have
several computers connected to the same unique line they share. The line is
64 kbit/s speed. All the computers run differents application and several
will be connected to the training module. At this stage it's not a so
complex environment...

What's difficult is that they are connected to a METAFRAME environment. This
means that the computers of the agencies have no program installed, no hard
drive (only RAM) and all the programs like Windows, Word, etc. are running
at the server's location (using the shared line).

We have proposed a solution done in Flash, thinking this will not give any
problem... we have provided to them 4 samples of flash very short but
interactive animations... corresponding each to 1 html page of 1 kb + 1 swf
file of from 4kb to 42 kb. After the tests they told us that even the
lightest solution was taking a lot of time to run...

It seems that due to the fact that the plugin is not resident on the
computer but run at the server... makes the project not work.

can you suggest me any ideas of solutions to help me ?
Does a lighter Flash plugin for METAFRAME exist ?
Do other technologies work allowing to create interactions (like quizzes)
and small animations (DHTML, java,XML, ...) ?

Hope you'll be able to help me on this issue and that you'll revert to me
urgently.

It can be made to work, but any animation over MetaFrame is prone to speed issues, due to the way the protocol works.

Put the server into install mode, and download the flash plugin.

This will ensure that all clients get the plugin, but as for speed issues, I am not aware of any "lite" editions of flash.

I hope this helps
