I am trying to make a dialup connection from the scheduler before sending a file to a secure ftp site. All the other scheduled events work fine. However, I can't figure out how to run the dial up connection. Running the desktop link doesn't work. Can anyone help me with this?

You can probably make the dialup connection set to "Always Dial" and just schedule the secure FTP itself. If you let the dialer do its thing automagically it will probably take care of the internet connect seamlessly. You'll also need to tell the dialer to timeout/hangup after XX minutes of disuse.

Perhaps i'm blind, but I find do place in the connection to set it to "Always Dial" as thedaver suggested. Can you point me in the right direction?

I'm a linux guy, but I think you do so under IE's Tools Options Connections. This is where you can configure how the dialer gets called for IE. I *THINK* that this setting influences other Internet apps also.

If nothing else, you can batch file your way to launching IE to get the dialer running, do your file transfer, and then close down IE... I'm pretty sure this will shutdown the dialup if you tell it to do so in the Options window.

Not super elegant, but functional?!
