Running ASP on Tomcat/Apache?? Also, quick IIS question?

Hello,

I am new to this architecture and had a couple of quick questions...

1. Does Tomcat support running ASP's as well as JSP/Servlets? Or is it the Apache web server that comes with Tomcat that might possibly support ASP's? If ASP's are supported are there any tricky configurations in order to run JSP's in conjuction with ASP's?

2. Is IIS just a web server? If so, then I assume ASP never requires an application server? If my assumption is correct then for scalability/redundancy you just need to worry about more web servers and data base servers?? No need for the application server middle layer?? Cheaper cost in the long run, maybe?????

Tomcat does not. However, the Apache webserver does. What you would have to do is connect Tomcat to Apache. There are directions on the website for this. I don't know know if the two will work together or not, but it might be worth a shotto try it.

IIS is just a webserver. However, I believe it runs ASP code. I know very little about ASP. ASP questions should be asked on the ASP forum. Mike Wills
