I'm presently trying to redisgn a custom help system w/out needing licenses for anything, and wondered if anyone knew a way of launching an application on the local system from html.
My plan is a simple program that reformats the page depending on what a user clicked, then refreshing the page to show new options. (Something along those lines, anyway.)
I guess I'll need to know about writing to a text file on the local drive from html as well - any hints on this (maybe a cookie?)?
Any help gratefully appreciated,

Douglas
If it don't make you laugh, it ain't true.

Don't think theres any way at all you can launch an app from HTML (this would be a huge security problem if you could..).

You can do this using ASP, maybe ask about on the ASP forum.

Cheers, man - I wouldn't have access to ASP on the server I would be using, so I couldn't do that.
I figured it was a dead-end - thanks for confirming that for me.

It is not a dead end, ASP is not the only way of doing what you want to do. Your solution lies in any of the server-side scripting languages, such as ASP, php, perl, etc.
