running airport express thru Dlink Ethernet modem

I get a great signal on my iMac which is about 5 metres away but a very low signal on the PC which is up stairs. Also it keeps looking for a network connection key. This may be due to the low signal strength.
Apart from being able to move the PC about 1 metre [which will involve a bit of upheaval as I will have to move a bed and everything underneath it!!!!! too. is there anything else I can do?

I hope this is the correct forum. If not please tell me where I should post this.

discovered that I needed the password already set up on iMAC so that is now working but signal strength still not enough to allow access to internet. Guess it will be furniture moving tomorrow!
