Running Accpac on local and networked databases

We have a networked version of Accpac and I would also liek to copy the data to my laptop and access the data offline. However, when my laptop is not connected to the network Accpac won't load, the error message states that there is no licence for the product.

Can it be setup to check either the local or the network licences or do I have to adjust that every time?

TIA

That would be in violation of the software license agreement.

Sorry, didn't know.

I merely wanted to work with my data offline, not use the software for another company.

Not sure why you want to run Accpac on the local copy, you can't post transactions. If you want to do data analysis, why not use MSAccess or Crystal?

I want to be able to access the data for analysis purposes while I am out of the office (i.e. working from home). I don't run transactions, I am responsible for the management reports and its much simpler if I am able to run all the previously defined reports directly from Accpac and be able to drill down into the detail, all from the same program.

Then you'll have to adjust HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ACCPAC INTERNATIONAL, INC.\ACCPAC\Configuration\SharedData every time you switch.

Setup Terminal Server for remote access, that way you have access to up to date data from anywhere, and no hassles with copying data and messing around with other settings.

I'd love to be able to dial in, but it is company policy to not allow access to our servers in that manner.

Thanks, guys!

Hi,

I think that if you want to access your company database, you can use Remote Desktop Connexion or PCtoPC or GoToMyPC for your reports. Then, you use just the internet without having another problems.
