Hello, I have just installed Access 2003 runtime on a pc and have opened the Access 2003 mde successfully. When I try to open a Access 97 file that has not been converted yet, I get the following error "A system error occurred, or there isn't enough free memory to start the Microsoft Access. Close the unneeded programs and try again.

Does this mean that I can't run the access 97 file anymore?

Thanks

I don't know what is causing your memory error, but I was able to open an Access 97 database and by pass Access XP by changing the shortcut to something like this.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 97\Office\msaccess.exe" "C:\your folder\yourDatabase.mdb"
Office 97 is in the folder as indicated above. Be sure to put a space between the " " that separate msaccess.exe and the location of the database you are trying to open. Hope this helps. Access 97, 2000 and XP are all running on my computer.
