Hello, I'm new to SCO. I'm trying to run a script I created every twenty minutes in the /usr/spool/cron/crontabs root file. I'm having ahard time figuring out the time commands, I.E. I know that 17 5 * * 0 would execute a command every Sunday morning at 5:17. But I don't know what to use for running commands in minutes. Any help would be great.

man crontab

But basically a * in one of the position means EVERY possible value for that position.

So if you have something on the minute e.g. 30, and * on the hour position then it is equivalent to say EVERY ....

One more question. I want to test out the script before I place in in the crontabs root file. If the script is located at /usr/local/lpcheck/lpcheck what do I type to run the script. thanks

/usr/local/lpcheck/lpcheck

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

And if the script runs OK from the command line, but not from cron, try including the necessary PATH environment variable (and any others) within the script itself. That's a very common problem (and one that has been discussed ad-infinitum on Tek-Tips!). HTH.
