running a program in the systray?

I have created a file monitor program which runs on our server moving files around, it runs on startup and all is fine, the problem is it runs like a normal program displayed in the taskbar, I would ideally like it to be shown in the systray next to the clock but Im at a loss to know how to do it? any help woudl be greatly appriciated..
