Hello,

rundll32.exe - no disk

I have an HP(xp home edition) that runs this error when I right-click on the desktop and choose properties. And it also shows the same error when I browse through the tabs in the display properties. Oh, at the same time that it displays this error, it looks in the a: drive. Of course I have nothing in the drive.

Someone had put a background or screensaver in the system via the a: drive a while back. I wonder if this is why this error is showing up.

I was going to try a repair disk or reinstall but I thought I would post here first before I attemted anything like that.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Frank G.

Have you tried cleaning out the PreFetch folder in Windows? Windows will recreate them as you load programs.

First, check that the screensaver settings to not refer to the A drive.

In Regedit go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Check the following REG_SZ value:
SCRNSAVE.EXE = C:\Windows\System32\ssmypics.scr (or desired screensaver file name)

Is there a reference to the A drive?
If so, do not change it here. Right-click an empty area of the desktop, Properties, Screensaver, and change the settings at that point.

If this does not clear up the situation (I suspect it will not) then please advise us here.
